All families are invited for our 1st PCA Friends and Family Rally on Tuesday, August 31 at 6:30. This is a free dinner for all parents, grandparents, and friends held at the home of Ronnie and Donna Barrett. We hope to see everyone there for a time of fellowship, fun and support for PCA. PCA would like to congratulate Hannah and Luke, our inaugural senior class. We wish you God’s richest blessings as you move into your next stage of life. Hannah and Luke both received scholarships to their college of choice. We are so proud of you, and we thank you for paving the way for many more senior classes at Providence Christian Academy.

PCA will hold our annual uniform consignment sale this coming Monday, May 19 beginning at 12:00 in the multi-purpose room. Our sale will go through the end of the day on Tuesday, May 20. This is a great way to get uniforms at a discounted price.

Kelly Holcomb is going to be hosting a offensive skills football camp at Providence Christian Academy on June 26 this summer. Kelly spent 13 years as a quarterback in the NFL for the Cleveland Browns, Buffalo Bills, Minnesota Vikings, and Indianapolis Colts. He also had an impressive college career for the MTSU Blue Raiders.

This clinic will feature many of the premier coaches in the mid-state area. In addition to some of the best instruction this area has to offer, every camper will receive a t-shirt and a lunch, plus a digital photo with the coaches.

PCA will be hosting a Chess Camp for players of all levels of experience, ages 7 and up on June 7-10, 2010 from 9 am to 1pm. Camp activities will include group chess lessons with highly experienced and successful instructors led by Igor Zhilsin, practice games, simultaneous exhibition, and consultation games. There are so many educational benefits to playing the game of chess, such as

• Developing problem solving and critical thinking skills
• Strengthening  memory, reading, language, and mathematic skillls
• Learning to think logically
• Improving concentration and discipline
• Improving test scores/ academic performance

PCA will be hosting our annual golf tournament at Old Fort Golf Club on Friday, May 21.  This is a great opportunity for fellowship, networking, and fun competition. Driving range will be open at 11:30 with lunch, provided by Demos Restaurant. Shotgun start will begin promptly at 1:00. Awards and appetizers provided by Jim and Nick’s will be after the tournament. There are many opportunities to get involved. We are looking for hole sponsors as well as sponsors for our putting contest, mulligans, and more. PCA Primary (K-3) Chess Team tied for 2nd place in the Middle Tennessee Regional Championship in Clarksville on March 6 and advanced to the Tennessee State Championship Finals in Cookeville on March 27! This marks the first time that a PCA individual or team qualified for State Finals.

The PCA team consisted of Ben, Michael, Joshua, Sam, with Aden  as an alternate.

Congratulations to all of them and other PCA Chess Program families whose participation and support contributed to our success.
