PCA believes it is important for each student to have access to performance opportunities at every level throughout his or her academic career. The classroom provides daily hands on use of musical instruments in both organized and free flow methods. Outside of the classroom, PCA provides many performance opportunities throughout the year for our students.
Lower School Choir
Lower School Choir is open to boys and girls in 3rd – 5th grades. Choir meets one day a week for an hour, working on good breathing, supporting and singing technique while learning challenging and fun songs. At this age, our music focuses on unison, two-part, round and canon singing. Many performance opportunities are available. Choir sings in the Christmas Program, the Fine Arts Coffeehouse, the Spring Chapel, as well as community outreach opportunities. The Lower School Choir has performed at Bethlehem Marketplace, Adam’s Place, Barnes and Noble, Beech Bend Music Festival, and a 9/11 Memorial event.
PCA’s Praise Band is for high school music students. The band leads our worship time in chapel and performs in other arenas as well.
Each year at Christmastime, all students at PCA perform for family and friends at the Christmas program. This program features singing and instrumental performances.
Fine Arts Coffeehouse
This fun night at PCA combines the talents of the Visual Arts and Performing Arts departments. Student artwork is selected and displayed throughout the hallways for the end of the year Art Show. During this time, auditioned students of all ages perform music on stage in a talent show format.
Our Spring Musical is a wonderful time for families to enjoy PCA students in live performance. We have done Annie Jr. , The Secret Garden, Beauty and the Beast Jr., The Sound of Music, and the The Wizard of Oz.
