Greetings from the Lower School at PCA, where children are encouraged to be lifelong learners, active in their faith, and fostered daily to build knowledge in fun and challenging ways. The grammar phase (grades PreK-5) of the classical model is alive and well at Providence Christian Academy. In grades K-5, we are equipping students with the tools for decoding and encoding through a strong foundation in the 95% Group Phonics and Reading Program as well as teaching the basic skills of handwriting and spelling. During and after learning to read, lower school students are exposed to great stories in literature as teachers read aloud and engage students in the classics. Biblical integration is probably my favorite part of what we do at Providence. We have a truly amazing group of teachers who love God’s word and seek ways to integrate it fluidly in History, Science, Math, Grammar, Art, Music and Literature. We see History as ultimately telling “His story”, thus giving our students an up-close look at where the people of the Bible fit into the History timeline, beginning with God as our creator.
Our team takes our role in the spiritual and academic growth of each student at PCA very seriously. We are genuinely grateful for this opportunity and look forward to all God has for our school. We believe partnering with parents in the Classical Christian model will positively affect our culture for Christ, in a world that desperately needs just that.
