Taking College Entrance Exams

The ACT and SAT are key assessments and components of the college-going process.  Many colleges, universities, and other programs use ACT or SAT scores to determine admissions decisions as well as scholarship eligibility.  Colleges may also use your ACT or SAT score in specific subject areas to determine freshman year course placement, particularly for math.  Be sure to check the requirements for your target schools.  Aim to be at or above the posted average scores, but also keep in mind that extracurricular activities and GPA also factor into the admissions decisions as well as essays and recommendation letters.  Below are the key differences between the ACT and the SAT and resources for test preparation.
